Re: Brake Question
From: Slink <slink1@jps.net>
I notice a scraping sound coming from the front passenger side wheel
when I brake. A friend told me that my brake pad may be gone on the
inner passenger side rotor and that I may need to replace the rotor and
pads. My question? What type of front calipers do the 85 scirocco
wolfburg have, and what would be the best way to replace the rotors
85 scirocco wolfburg ed.
I would not assume that the rotors are bad. My '81 does not have pads with low pad warning thingie on it but yours being a newer one it just might. My Toyota has these and it creates a scraping sound to tell you that your pads are low. If you don't have this and you hear that noise , change them ASAP. You will destroy your rotors. The Studs that hold the pads will scrape on the rotors. Just go and look at the thickness of the pad and this will tell you the whole story.
