Correct me if im wrong,

But arent 1989 Sciroccos Left over from 88 that couldnt be sold that year? 
So you'd run into the "Old Car Woes" thing again.  Very Very few differences 
AT ALL b/t 1986-1989 Roccos (16v).  Get one that has a 160 MPH Speedo, they 
seem faster. :-)
