water leak

I realize that this is not a Scirocco question, but I hope that you
will be able to help me.

While at Dauns for the cruise in, the vapor barrier in the back right
door of my '89 Jetta got taped back up.  Since then, I have not had the
moisture problem to the same extent on the floor of the back seat below
the door. It still gets damp, however, by the emergency break.  There
was some discussion at the cruise in about the possibility of water
coming in through the emergency break.  I am beginning to think that is
the only place that it could be coming in.

Any ideas???
