Eeeww.... carbs... I don't like having to constantly fiddle with shit. I like
stock Bosch fuel injection a lot. Find your power in your exhaust and head. If
you've got the coin, spring for a 2.0l.

Reliability, I don't really think so. Nor will it go up, however. What you'll
lose is *convenience*. Do you really want to rejet the carbs for cold, hot,
high humidity, low humidity, a new ignition system, for midrange or top end?
Blecchh.. Screw that... Oh yeah, your fuel economy will suck. How does this
sound so far?

> would the horsepower go up?

If you're planning on running really wild cams then I think that peak hp will
climb past that which the stock fuel injection can produce with the *same*
cams. That however, is because the CIS airflow plate starts bouncing all over
the place with air pressure fluctuations caused by the hottest cams. Keep in
mind though, that the hot sticks (like Schrick 266+, e.g.) don't put the power
where you need it in a rally car. Tune for *midrange* power that will allow you
to slingshot out of hair pins and blast up a mountainside. Your 8v motor
doesn't have the widest powerband by default, anyway. Another thing that you
give up with carbs is the sharp throttle response that we enjoy with our cars.
Why make the engine less useable and driveable?

I run a g-grind in a worked 2.0l. Midrange my friend. Pray to the gods of
mdrange torque...

Dunno. -never really considered any of this, actually... ;^)
