Re: Getting rid of my AC
When I put my 16v into my Rabbit (No, I don't have a scirocco), I just
removed the A/C compressor, kept the bracket, slightly modified a MK1 alt.
pulley (since they are very deep, I don't know, I think the one I used had
A/C) and with my set up I got rid of the P/S also so I measured and found
the right belt for Crank/Alt/Waterpump. There is one
other option and one possible. 1. Change the Alt/ac bracket--the only
problem with this is I have never heard of or seen a stock scirocco or GTI
16v without A/C! 2. Try to mount the bracket from an 8 valve. The only
problem with this is you'll have to change the Alt too and probably have to
change the upper bracket.
I tried to put my 8v stuff on my 16v before I put the motor in but it didn't
work for some reason, so I used the bracket with A/C and just got rid of the
compressor.
Hope this helps!
