this happen to anyone before?

I recently put on a dual outlet exhaust manifold and dual
downpipe(manifold from old rabbit, pipe from techtonics, both from Victor
<thanks>) I have been noticing a rubbing sound under hard acceleration so
i took it down to my mechanics (really nice guy, lets me use the lift and
helps figure out problems for free :) and we noticed that there appears to
be some rubbing going on between the downpipe and the stock front stress
bar. (they were about 3/4 inch apart, but when the engine is tourqued it
is apparenty the rubbing point) His only suggestion would be to slightly
bang in the downpipe, obviously something i don't want to do, my only
other thought was maybe i need a stiffer mount.
Has this ever happened to anyone,and does anyone know a fix?
