2k idle

I just adjusted the timing on my car yesterday and now I can't get the idle 
speed to go below 2000 rpm.  Any ideas on what might be causing this?  Also, 
what is the correct timing for an 82 8V?  I just set it by ear.  Car runs 
alot smoother but this idle thing is bugging me....TIA
