You have probably wired them wrong.  Even though the US light connector
will _fit_ on the Euro H4 bulb, the wires are actually not going to the
correct contacts.  I think the US lights use the middle tab as ground,
and the other two are hi and low respecively.  On the H4, one of the
side tabs is ground, and the other two...well you know.
