Non AC Alternator pulley Q....

I recently removed the AC from my MK1 rocco......The alternator pulley doesn't
line up with the water pump pulley now.  I got the proper alternator bracket
from a parts yard, but I'm not sure if I need to get a different Alt. pulley
(do they make different ones with different extension lengths?), or replace
the water pump (for one with a different pulley?).  Any help with this
situation would be greatly appreciated!!
