You need to buy a K&N cleaning and recharge kit. (Dunno why they call it
a "recharge", whatever.)
There is a solvent that you liberally apply to the filter, let it sit a
few to work its magic and then you simply hose it off. Then you gotta let
it dry completely before you reapply the red oil to the filter. LEt it
set again and be sure there are no dry spots. Install.
The kit has the full instructions on it for the proper care of your
filter. I recall its about $15. Something like that but it lasts about 5
cleanings. (I completely clean mine about every 6 months. More if it
needs it.)
