Transmission leak question

I've got oil leaking from somewhere around the left side (long shaft) 
diff flange.  
If it is not the seal in the middle of the flange, i.e. the one that's 
visible when you remove the CV,  what else is likely to leak, and how 
difficult is it to fix?
