Hey, not so fast there...that ties you for oldest Scirocco-lover!  :^)

In the fall of 74 my Dad was looking for a family car.  I (a youthful 13 at
the time) kept pointing at the Scirocco in the showroom, but he sternly
told me it was too small/expensive/sporty/not-enough-doors/etc.  That was
all I needed to know that *that* was the car I wanted.  I finally got my 78
in college in 82, by detour of a 65 Ford Galaxy landbarge, but that's a
different story entirely...

BTW, he wound up buying a pea-green Golf, which turned out to be quite a
blast, too, in the windy hills of central England.
