Window leaks and Dynamat
--
1. Squeeze small bead of silicon on outer surface of seal.
2. Lay plastic wrap over fresh silicon, maybe waxed paper instead.
3. Close window on fresh sealant, but not too tight, plastic wrap
prevents sealing to glass. (This would allow it to conform to the exact
contours.)

Black silicone... Great idea man! Would it last long, I wonder?
I'll try it soon and give you the results.

We were just talking about Dynamat. How's it work for you? As in your
case it's usually intended for audio reasons, How's it work against road
noise?

The dynamat is incredible. I managed to get a hold of a roofer who let
me "borrow" an entire sheet of this Ice Shield stuff... nice guy.
I used it all over the rear fenders and inside the spare tire well, by
heat-molding it and 3M glueing. I also got rid of the rear
cardboard-like panels next to the tail-light assemblies. Even when
padded they still create rattles. Zero rattles back there. I used clear
silicone all around the new tail-lights I tinted and put in, and
tightened down every bolt and wire.
I also put it up front in the doors and under the hood. I have yet to
lay down some under the carpet, but believe it or not, i ran out...I
think there's like 100 lbs of that stuff in my ride now.
Sealing the doors makes all the difference. Standing outside with the
radio pumping and the window closed, its barely audible. Windows down
and it's crazy. The bass just shakes the car regardless of the windows,
however!
Later,
Pete
