I know they are heavier, but not way heavier!?! My Golf GT weighs maybe
2250, I can't see the GTI 16V coming in more than 2350, and the Scirocco
16V specced in at about 2250-2280.

I believe the 2.0 liter GTI 16V achieved about the same 0-60 times in
mag tests as the Scirocco 16V.

I'll have to dig up my spec sheets tonight . . .

I have pulled under 8 secs 0-60 (7.53 to be exact),

G60s were slugs to begin with. Never had a factory rating (or mag test)
0-60 anywhere close to a Scirocco 16V.

  The

wheelbase,

16v

Don't know why, they were rated maybe 0.4 seconds slower 0-60 than a
Scirocco 16V.

Especially on the highway. What is wrong
>w./ them??

Owner maintenance? This is just a guess.

Many on this list feel the A2 (Golf/Jetta/Corrado) chassis is capable of
better handling than the A1 chassis [Lain?]

There are some folks on this list that have raced both (where are they?)

Personally, I prefer the feel of the A1.
