This is a 'Me too' post, sorry.

All my research has shown that one of the best and easiest engine swaps
is the Audi 80 2.0 liter bottom end, also know as the 'bubble block'
along with an  A1 GTI (perhaps the 83-84) top end. THis combines the
grunt of the 2L along with a big valve, CIS based cyl. head.

This is the main reason I had purchased the '84 GTI I recently used as
an engine donor for My '81. All I need now is an old Audi to descend
upon. :)
