Re: GTI For Sale
Then there are those OTHER people I can't stand, the one's that try to talk
you down and down and down. A few months ago I sold an 87 Golf GT with
39,000 miles on it. The bad thing about it was that it had a Salvage title
(theft recovery). so I posted the car for 1000.00. This is what it had!
brand new headlights, three blade grille, tires, waterpump, timing belt, cv
joints, windshield, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, alternator.. not to mention
the brand new set of big bumpers I put on there. ARGH!
This guy was like trying to talk me down. Damn F.O.B. (fresh of the boat)
Asian. (Not that I have anything against Asians, my girlfriend is Chinese..
well american.. but she looks chinese) But this guy, you know the type kept
complaining about minor quirks with the car like. The A/C doesn't work..
WELL I DIDNT ADVERTISE IT AS HAVING A/C! The car needed new front seats as
well.. BIG DEAL. I told him that I was already taking a loss on the car but
was willing to part with it for $1000.00 NO LESS. He kept trying.. after
about an hour of this guy walking around and kicking the tires, I finally
got mad and asked him to leave. He said he would call me back and let me
know what his decision was.... NO CALL. The car had ~2000.00 of new parts
on it.. it ran beautifully, looked great.. but had a few little things
wrong with it.
DO YOU ALL THINK 1000.00 WAS a bad price?
so I got a call from a guy that was interested in the car.. he drove down
from seattle after seeing the car on the 16v gti webpage... came down...
drove the car and I sold it to him for $900.00 because he knew what he was
looking at. No hassles.. just the regular questions.. How much do you
need to know that you gotta ask 1 hours worth of questions?!?!
yah, I know the feeling. I ask lots of questions.. but if the ad says firm,
I try once to talk em down... or throw the idea out there.. but if they say
no.. then I guess its NO!
