I was going to say some kind of fusible block located in the
engine compartment might solve your problems.
ususally you can find positive battery cables with a large primary
wire that runs to your starter and a couple of smaller guage
wires for just what you're trying to do- molded into the lead clamp.
I have given this thought as well as I'll be rewiring some of my
compartment to accomodate euro-relayed headlights as well
as some modifications for a stereo/keyless entry
