Re: drive ratio (was Scirocco S colors)
Well considering my 16v was running top notch, tuned by the same
VW and Porsche certified mechanic as this 81, running stock timing,
same driving style, the only difference is the transmission. my 16v
did have fuel enrichment so that could account for lower mpg, however
not much of my driving is done at fullthrottle, and these numbers
were obtained at intervals of 2.5 days of highway driving using
almost a full tank of gas. couse my average mileage varried but for
the most part it averaged around 23-25mpg and my 81S has been getting
32-34..gotta love that .71, and its more like 20% reduction in
engine revs, 4,000 to 3200....don't forget the weight difference too
though, that factors in, but for the majority its mostly due to the
.71 5th..my point was just how amaze i was to finally get the mpg
people on this list always talk about getting, i always assumed they
were on crack.
