Welcome to the list! As I read over the following questions I don't see
any stupid ones, I'm sure you can come up with some really stupid ones-

I haven't owned a 16v but what you are describing sound like the "8
valve has more power down low & the 16v has more power up high"
in-a-nutshell. (I'm paraphrasing as an exaggeration, no flames pls.) In
other words, sounds normal to me. I'm sure an actual 16v owner will be
more helpful.

A 15 something is not too bad for the colder months, In your case I'd
even think of something lower for the winter months, and a change to a
20-50w oil for the warmer months. Change the oil based on the season and
time it's been in the engine, not just on the miles it's been used.
