For my car I used the harness off of a Golf II . 

The radiator fan uses its own harness that is easy to separate . The only 
wires I had to hook up were power and ground . I also used the 3 pole fan 
switch on the radiator. 
I also am using the 16v fan so the connector there is also different from the 
MK1 . 

If I confused anyone let me know I can explain it in more detail when I look 
at the car.
