'Twas a good day
considering i haven't slepr since 4:30 pm yesterday, everything's been
good. i hopped in the car and it started right up. the enging sputtered
and about stalled out, even when i tried to add some additional gas.
(any suggestions? plugs and wires were replaced about a year ago and it
had been raining the past couple of days.) after letting it idle at
about 3000 rpm i took off. i went to the vw dealer and inquired about
recalls for my '86. whoohoo! i get a new fuel pump! then i left for the
yard (i don't know why) and went in with the intention of paying for
what i took. i grabbed a turnsignal and an airbox. compared the signal
to the one i had, and it was worse so i put it back. eventually put the
airbox back down because i don't want to have to pay $10 for something
i'm just going to drill holes in. at any rate, i walked away with a
complete set of relays from an '84 wolfsberg, a few cosmetic items, and
other small odds & ends. yes, i feel justified in doing this whenever
they want $45 for a used taillight or $50 for the body moulding. on our
pontiac we bought from them, they switched engines on us (and it
eventually became my car before my scirocco) so i feel that i'm getting
my money back that i paid for a busted alternator and two dead tensioner
pulleys on the pontiac.
the best part, though, was when i was coming home. i'm just driving
along and looking ahead i see a red light. i start to slow down. the
lady in front of me does not. at the last moment she hits her brakes and
runs into the side, tail-end of a s-10. the reason this was fun to watch
was 1) the guy in the s-10 could have avoided it but i think he wanted
to get hit (he slowed down before getting hit) and 2) the lady locked
her brakes and steered into him. ah, such is life.
thanx for reading. i just had to tell someone.
