$1500 Grassroots motorsports chalenge! . . I need Help!

    OK for you grassroots motorsport readers you've probably heard of there 
$1500 challenge. Cool idea to build a car and race it for 1500, this price 
includes the price of purchasing the car in question. Well, when I read this 
I though it was cool. Then my boss saw this, no its an in shop contest. That 
I got myself suckered into. So now I have about a month or about 6 weeks to 
buy and build a car. Starting Um today.
I want to beat my boss. He already got a rabbit for $300. Now I need to find 
a cheap car to gut and prep. So I'm asking you all if you know anyone in the 
North east that with a VW for sale. Cheap, REAL cheap, In running order. 

    I'm basically looking for a petrol burning (non diesel) early 80's VW. I 
need a clean body (no rust or major body damage) bad paint is OK with me. 
I've found a few in the Connecticut area for the 300 to 500 range. If you 
know anyone with one in that range or less that runs drop me an e-mail. I'd 
love a MK1 Rocco but I think that may be out of the question. Thanks for your 
help
