De-funkifying leather wheel?

Hey - my leather wheel finally showed up(lost by USPS
for 1 month), only one problem...

It smells like crap...  I dunno if the guy just had
extra sweaty palms or just really bad cologne on all
the time, but MAN - I can hardly stand to be next to
it in my office... I touch it, and it is all over my
hands...

So anyone have any tips for getting my rank-ass wheel
to smell like anything else?  Soak it in Vanillaroma?
rub pine-tree air freshener on it? Anything?
