blackening trim on MK1
Over the years the black coating on the window trim of my "S" has
rubbed of and now has a shinny appearance to it. I'd like to
blacken it out again. I had planned on masking everything off,
roughing up the trim a little bit and then spraying it a satin black.
Has anybody else done this and with what success. I know the
best method is to remove all the trim and paint it off the car, but I
don't want to ruin the window rubber, especially after the quote I got
to replace it ($140 for one of the seals alone). So, what type of
paint would be good to use? How should I prep the trim (sand
paper would leave too deep of gouges)? I was thinking steel wool
would work good.
