Oil pressure idiot light acting up

It's acting up on my '84 Scirocco. While I'm driving down the road it will 
bleep a little bit off and on and in increase in consistancy until it's on all 
the time. Then it will go off on it's own. I have perfectly fine oil pressure 
and the levels fine. On occasion when I hit on the dash or go over a 
bump it will go off. Sometimes it will go off for a few seconds, other 
times for a few hours. Any ideas what causing it?
