I had one of these go bad... so i replaced it with one off of my parts 
tranny.  About a year went by and it stopped working too.  SO, i took the 
sucker out.  Then I cleaned it really well.  Made sure the little buttons 
would go in & out easily.  Now it works PERFECT.  I'd try that Mike.... it 
takes all of 10 minutes.  Its just kinda hard to get to on the 16V with all 
that junk in the way.   HTH
