Having a flashy cars doesn't help any. Especially in the daytime. Bright
colors are easily noticed and gets you a second look.
When I was driving to Seattle a couple years ago, I was in a rented Chevy
which was bright red. I was driving in the fast lane, with cars stacked
up behind me and was door to door with a plane jane truck. I was going a
little slower than the truck because I was already doing 80 and really
didn't want to go much faster in this car. Just as I came over a hill, I
see this white highway patrol car on the shoulder in the center divide.
Before I get to him he's moving and merges onto the freeway right behind
me. Meanwhile im still trying to merge behind the truck. I was going
slower than the truck, yet *I* got stopped. Why? Because I was in a
bright red car. That's just how it goes. That's why I picked a Blue color
for my car. Its still bright enough yet boring enough to get ignored.

Maybe I should. :)
Well, heres just some of my techniques that I use. My number one rule is,
be observant of everything behind you. Some people see my 5 panel rear
view mirror and scoff at its odd size. When Im driving at a good click, I
spend most of my time looking into my rear view mirror. Im not just
watching the cars behind me, im also looking at the cars getting on the
freeway at every freeway onramp. This is where most people get caught.
They don't see the patrol unit merging into the freeway. This is key.
Also know what the patrol cars look like. Know how to identify them long
before you pass one, oops. That would suck. In Ca, they have different
color schemes and use different models. Lear what is constant in the cars
like usually the rear bumper has a reflective "Highway Patrol" sticker on
it. Some cars don't have the light bars on top, they're incorporated into
the grill and interior of the cars. They are now even painting the spot
lights black, as to be that much more stealthy. SUCKS.
Now, when your doing your Autobahn training, you need to keep in mind
what the traffic is doing. Sometimes you can mingle in traffic that is
already doing 90mph and not even get noticed. This is my favorite thing
to do as of late. Just like fish and birds, there is safety in numbers.
If you can put yourself in the middle of a pack of cars that are making
good time, your chances of getting caught are good. You give up overall
top speed but you gain alot of security. This is sometimes hard to
achieve due to the lack of cars that are willing to cruise 90 and up. (At
least not in CA. No problem there.)
If traffic is going slower than you want to be cruising at, then use this
as a guide. If traffic is doing 70 and the speed limit is 65, then only
go fast enough to where you are passing people, but not passing them like
they're standing still. Avoid the excessive lane changes and when you do
change lanes, change lanes slowly, even if you're flying. The suddenness
of a lane change also attracts the attention of those you would rather
avoid.
Know the area of where your going. If you know some areas are heavily
patrolled, OR, if they KNOW YOU BY NAME, drive slow until you get passed
that area.
There is no real way to speed and never get caught other than be an
active cop or a dispatcher yourself. If you speed often enough, you will
get caught. Its as simple as that. But if you speed smartly, then the
chances of you getting caught are lessened dramatically. Traffic plays
the biggest part in my speed. If traffic is heavy, I pick a lane that is
moving and ride it out. If I see a lane wide open with no traffic and im
in a lane with a 2 mile train in it, I will change lanes, and speed up
about 5 mph faster than the traffic and casually pass traffic. Its like
that, see.
OK, That's the short version. For more info, buy the book! :)
