My PITA 81 Rocco must not have likes the kind of gas I put in it a few
weeks ago because it decided to blow about a gallon out the filler neck
yesterday. Here's the skinny:
The tank was replaced with one from another A1 (which one I don;t
know) last summer because the original was rusted. I initially had
a problem with a pinched vent line not allowing the fuel into the tank and
therefore it spit back up the filler neck. I checked all hoses/lines and
found what I thought was the culprit. It has been fine up until this
summer when I decided to drive it around a bit. After filling the tank
and getting onto the highway, I noticed fuel trying to escape into the car
via the sending unit. In other words, the tank was completely
pressurized. I parked it a couple of weeks ago and have not run it since.
What would cause the tank to expel gas like that? A quick check revealed
no pinched or blocked vent lines. I need to fix this ASAP because the
nice firemen who came to clean up the spill( thanks to an anonymous
neighbor) told me I will be fined if it happens again. I completely
emptied the tank, but I need a permanent fix. HHEEEEEEELLLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!
