Yup that's about right since my 80 MK1 with euro-bumpers, no a/c, 
& the majority of the sound deadening ripped out weighed in 
@1980 w/ a full tank of gas & my steel wheel spare.  

My friends 76 w/ a 1.8 16v weighed in @ 2150.  but he has a/c, 
U.S. bumpers & those 16v motors weigh a little more ;)
