Here's my story...
I just got my car back from the bodyshop and lemme say that it looks
"SWEET"! I love it although there exists some minor imperfections.
At any rate, I drove up to my friends cottage and just before leaving my
mom says to me "is your car gonna make it up there?" I responded with a
"of course, it's a VW." Any how, I get to the cottage in pitch blackness
and park it in the driveway. About 10 minutes later, we decide to go and
buy some pizza. Well, I get in and try to put it in gear but my lever
decides to fall downwards. Thus, I was not able to put the car into gear.
Upset and I distraught I decide to drink some beer and worry about it the
next day.
The next day I looked at it and forced the lever ball to stay in place .
It continued to fall out, but with some nifty hand work I was able to drive
it back home. At home, I decided to replace the entire gear shift lever,
ball etc. from my parts car. Unfortunately, this cured nothing since it
still fell out of the ball.
Here's the problem: What should I be looking for? Do I need to buy a new
ball or is it because I haven't placed it in the correct spot. Any hints
and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Regards and thanks,
Sal
