[tech] [8v] [cams] [solid lifer]

No U.S. solid lifter cams are the same as the "G" grind cam used in the
European GTi.

If I have this right, the 1975 to mid 1980 U.S. cam was .405 lift, 225
deg duration at .050 check clearance. This is better than the later cams,
which had an emission control motivated reduction in lift to .387.

The "G" grind has a lift of .423 with the same duration as the early U.S.
cams.

Ok... another question.

I heard somewhere that the cam from a 1.6l 8v is the same as a g-grind.
Is this true? And if so, can I install the cam from my old '80 parts
car (stock 1.6l) into my 1987 1.8l JH?

Curious....
