5 Speed Synchros

Is the 5 speed in my 87 16V a fully syncroed tranny? The reason I ask is when I
attempt to downshift into first while moving at the very least it grinds till I
get below 5 mph. When racing this weekend it made a sickening thunk when I
forced it in a couple of times to pull out of tight corners. I have the AGB tranny
code running Redline MTL. Once I put the redline in 6 months ago it has shifted
like silk with no problem. I never really tested shifting into first while still
moving but now that I have Im worried. I also have 173,000 on the stock
clutch.....If it wasnt fully synchroed it would resist engaging to first while moving
right? I have who was a Synchromesh Spyder and its a bitch to drive....
