Oxy. Sensor Control unit from hell!!!

    Alright, all of you wonderful people out there.  Can you tell I need
something?  After months of occassional crap from my car, I found out my
oxygen sensor control unti (Jetronic something or other) is bad...  Oh boy,
how much of my life savings can this cost :).  I just got off the phone with
dealer (I know, I know), and was informed this would cost me somewhere over
$400.  I forget exactly, I could not handle that...

    Anyway, I am going to go off to the junk yard, and probably come up dry.
Especially since the dealer informed me this was a Scirocco only part, and
only until 84.  This seems odd to me, what do you guys think?  Seems that
these things should be fairly interchangable.  Oh well, I will take the box
out and go compare it to some at the junk yard.  It doesn't work anyway, my
car will still get there...  So, thoughts, input, Used boxes lying around
cheap?
