[humble][death to a M3 tonight]

I had almost the IDENTICAL thing happen to me a couple of years ago. It
was winter here in lovely Minnesota, and I was in the back seat of my
friends car when I saw lights flash across the headliner in front of me. I
looked to the right just in time to see a Mustang GT literally launch off
the snowbank and do a pirouette (sp?). I couldn't believe it until much
later when I actually saw the imprints in the snow, but the car BOUNCED
several times, 50ft or more between imprints, spinning all the while.
I-94 is sunken into the ground and banked on either side, and I just
stared as the Mustang kept up with us on the highway, spinning and
crashing as it went.

It turned out to be some kid and his girlfriend...couldn't have been 18
yet. Some guy in a old jacked-up Monte Carlo came along going pretty fast,
and this kid had to proove how big his schwanz was, so he gunned it,
hitting a patch of ice at the same time. He was in the left lane, and
probably only missed our back bumper by 10ft or so as he went spinning to
the right.

They were both OK. Seatbelts and the cushion of the snow probably helped
out a lot. Just some brusies and a LOT shaken-up. Funniest thing was that
his door came open and his case of CD's fell out of the car sometime after
the first roll. There were CD's everywhere for about 100ft! My buddy got
the guy to help him pick them up as a way of keeping him calm until the
cops got there...good idea, as he seemed about ready to loose it, and
would have if he saw his girlfriend faint like she did a minute later. She
was OK, just really stressed-out.

That was the most amazing thing I've ever seen, and I've changed the way I
drive because of it. I can't imagine what it would have been like had
there been major injuries. Good job, Shawn! It's good to have people like
you on the road (well, most of the time, anyway ;-) )!
