RE: Supercharged vs. Turbo

How do you get the turbo any closer to the ports.  All the aftermarket 
turbos manifolds I have seen for VW, including the bastardized version that 
I own, have the turbine housing within 3 inches of the head.  Any closer 
and there is no clearance for plumbing.
