I ran a SS supertrap on my 84 8valve for my first two years in ITB. I had the
dual outlet manifold going into a Techtonics euro downpipe. From there it was
straight 2inch all the way to the supertrap. When I would get to the track I
would remove all the discs and run it "open." IMHO I liked the sound.
Thought it looked good. Was easy to change my sound level (db) if a certain
track required a low level. FWIW - my second event in the car I arrived late
and hurried to get my race wheels on. Went on the track and ran ten laps.
Came into the pits afterwards and noticed that I had not removed the discs.
Took off the cap and discs, ran in the next session...picked up 7 seconds!
Doh! Can you say much better qualifying? ;) HTH
