The swastika, in one form or the other, has been used by many different
cultures for thousands of years.  I do believe the Chinese used it and I
know that more than one tribe of American Indians used it.

One direction is supposedly better luck than the other, and the original
swastika hailed from India thousands of years ago, as a good luck
symbol.
