I got one of the  factory power antennas that tucks away nicely on the 81.
The point is that all the cars are not the same :  )  !!!!
You know that your car can be fast if you want but it is more fun to
drive a "SLOW" car on the edge than a "FAST" car slow.
That is what SOLO II is about. "Driving on the edge"
I love driving my MK1 with the 1.7 and all stock at that.
It is solid, not fast, but when Ian and I drove it we had to get it.
Ian is 1/2 owner in the MK1. Ian has a 16v too.
Now our MK1 is getting faster soon and will be set up for DSP.
It is great to see people who know what a good car is.
All the cars of today can't touch the Scirocco. 
Some are faster, some are nicer, all cost more to own.
But a drivers car is what a Scirocco is. I think the BMW M3,
and the 911are the only drivers car that I like that you can buy
new. You cant drive them on the edge in the US without going to jail.
(there are several cars that I like so don't start a thread
about good cars)  All the good cars other than the Scirocco
cost way too much to own. I am glad that you say "! I just love this car!"

I'm happy with my factory power antenna. It tucks away nicely, on it's own,
when not in use. When I bought my '82 in 6/97, I new it was the slowest VW

had ever driven but, it was so mechanically sound that I just had to buy
it.
Plus, let's face it, the blue plaid "Recaros" are awesome! Actually, it was
all the power accessories. Well, maybe it was the fact that it was a Rocco
w/
a mono wiper. Or maybe the 10ft shifter....lol! I just love this car!
