It would seem that my VW *wants* to be in a certain state of disrepair.  In order to *go* without trouble there has to be a certain number of things that are not working or need to be fixed.

I have yet to determine how to measure the relative weights of the various broken items.

Here are some examples of what I am talking about, all these happen within 24 hours:



replace exhaust  -->  timing belt fails

add upper tie bar   -->    alternator falls off

oil stuck door handle  -->   headlight burns out

replace ball joints and rod ends   -->   coolant hose bursts


As you can see, I am afraid to fix anything else.  What should I do?

I need new tires, and should really get a battery before the snow gets here.  I am afraid of the results...
