Did you smell and thing like melting plastic?
Check your fuses I bought a nice little blade
fuse kit from crappy tire for $9.95 (canadian, 
so thats about .95 cents US or 1/2 pound UK).

Had the same problem a little while back and 
just replaced 4 fuses (probably casued by that
leaky window now that I think about it).
