The closer the speakers are to the rear seatback, the less their weight will
be a factor when opening the hatch with deck attached. Mind you, though,
the speakers probably sound better (acoustic bounce off the rear glass) when
mounted a bit further back (not all the way back, though).
I have been clouted on the head by my Mk2 hatch (the heavy one, with
spoiler, wiper, etc.); it isn't fun. Now that it's getting colder, the
incidence of hatch-clouting will increase, so everyone, watch out!
(Remember from high school chemistry class that the pressure of a gas is
somewhat proportional with its temperature? Also, at altitude, the pressure
is diminshed. So, when you take your Scirocco skiing, forget it. Bring a
hard hat!)
