Re: The hunt and strut replacement continues...
Why are you screwing around looking for a box wrench?
Did you try this? (I have been using this method for over 15 years)
hmmm - I use an allen wrench with a socket. I use a vise grips to hold
the socket and a small pipe on the allen wrench to turn it.
To make this clear, I put the vise grips on the outside of the socket as
tight as you can (no socket wrench involved). I place the socket on the
strut nut (strut still in car).
I then place the allen wrench into the top of the strut (through the
socket). Holding the vise grip with one hand, and the other hand on a
bar(pipe) placed over the end of the allen wrench, loosen the sucker!
A little liquid wrench prior to loosening helps.
Allen wrenches are stronger than you think.
I think the Socket size is 7/8"
Good luck!
