Yep, that's probably why. Any leak will mean that the water inside
can't contain as much heat, so the heat all stays in the block, not
to mention the fact that there's always less coolant than there
should be. That just compounds the problem.
That same reasson, BTW, is why steam burns you more than water at the
same temperature.
