Re: Hey Guys...[help]
Hey Jason,
Going by a similar experience to what you are descibing, I would
guess you are losing a cylinder or two. For me, it turned out to be
a bad coil. The heat from my header cooked it.
Since your car is caburated, I don't believe it has a transfer pump.
This is real easy to check, just pull the back seat, emove the three
screws from the sender cover, and pop out the gas tank sender unit.
That is where the pump is. If you have a pump there, then hit the
key and see if the pump runs (vibrates).
Try starting the car and pulling the plug wires one at a time. The
idle should drop and the car run rough each time you pull one. If
pulling a wire doesn't change the idle, then you found your dead
cylinder. If you have a dead cylinder, try a different plug wire,
plug, and or cap and rotor. If the car dies randomly, or act up only
when hot, I'd vote for a new coil.
Good luck and let us know how many BMWs and Porsches you get to whoop
on out there on the Autobahn!
