that's probably why...  it varies from city to city.  some of the little
towns don't even sniff your exhaust.  charlotte, however, being the
biggest city in NC, is a bitch.  so is raleigh.  unless you know the
right people.  the hole-in-the-exhaust fiasco happened at a jiffy lube.
never went there again.  then i took it to one of those independently
owned garages.  that's where the $40 headlight crap happened.  i've
found that a folded 20 lowers emissions enough to pass too... (this was
on my 1st X1/9, yes i had two....)
