Get one from an 88 Scirocco? Replace the lights with LED's if you're
really hot on them...?

Some pedal cluster bracket work should get you there. You may be able
to mod the one that you have, and convert your 'normal' brake lights to
a pressure switch on the master cylinder. You'd probably have to change
the master cylinder too come to think of it...awww, sounds too much like
work to me.
-- I'm thinking not of one tied to increased pressure but just further brake
pedal travel. Anything past say 50% would trigger a switch mounted to the
pedal. Like what cruise control units use to disconnect. Work in a small
capacitor to ease the light up, so as to avoid a sudden jump in brightness.

I don't know. Maybe you can get a shop to mandrel bend you some tubes using
your current exhaust as a pattern.
-- Hoping to find out what the basic reason is that I might use an A2 or some
other models' SS exhaust, perhaps with a single splice or removal of a small
section to make it fit. tb

Ditch it. Get one with the variable advance if you can afford it. Takes
some of the guess work out of the great mystery of timing.
-- Cool, I thought so. The list rules. tb

Um, whoops?
-- Just wondering if it presented a problem in real life, like spare tires,
etc, etc. Testimonial type stuff. tb
