    That might have been me.  As it turns out, there was a rip, a large
one at that, in the intake boot.  We returned the car to the owner because
he decided not to mess with the rest of the stuff that was wrong with the
car.  I cant be *absolutely* sure it was the boot, but after getting many
emails from people on the NGs all saying the same thing, I am *fairly*
certain that was the culprit.  As for accelerating, you will notice that
at higher RPMs the engine doesnt rock as much, its only when starting out
in a low gear and in low RPM does the engine rock back and forth, thereby 
opening up the rip. Hence, at higher RPMs it was fine, at low RPMs it was
not.  

    I just recently replaced my clutch and as far as it being glazed, I
noticed it under load it would definately slip.  I kept adjusting the
cable and it would get better, but eventually it would start slipping
again about a week later.  Sucked not being able to floor it.  =)  Course
with 78 HP at the beckoning, most John Deer tractors have better 0 to 60
times than me. ;)
