Yep, through a good VW rally connection, I am able to get a rebuilt 4K tranny with
6-speed for $1400 w/o core charge. Now this ain't too shabby of a deal -especially
considering that I can probably get $350 for the 4K with .75 fifth and Velocity
Stage 1 limited slip kit. Add that together and I'm stylin' for about $1100. This
is about how much Techtonics 16v head goes for I think. I'm thinking that the car
is already going to be plenty fast as it is.

Eh... I figure that with a stock bottom end, a few fuel injection tweaks, a decent
exhaust (w/no cat), and the 3.94 final drive the car should haul ass. Next step
would be some cams and then p&p the head. Hmm, I wonder if I'd want solid lifters.
Nah...

A stock 1.8l head. This'd be ideal cause it flows better on the top end than the
2.0l version. A nice compliment to the larger displacement engine.

Yep, and it is a hell of a lot easier to take off and plop back on compared to a
transmission. Decisions, decisions...
