RE: Auto - Manual Swap



I had it done when my automatic died in October (this was in a Cabriolet).
The cost did get pretty high $1500, I had a mixture of many used & new
parts.  I had a close ratio tranny from an 89 GTI w/60k miles on it put in.
If you have power steering you may need your steering rack replaced also,
its those little things that add up.  The break down came to about half
labor, half parts.
If you want more detail let me know.
BTW the car rocks now

As anyone actually swapped an auto tranny out and put in a manual??  What
do I need to succesfully complete that kind of project(tranny, pedel
cluster, clutch,.....)  Anyway any help would be great!


Bryan -- 86 8v Scirocco (they call it the big vibrator, that can't race
good cause it's got slow acceleration)
