Hehe... reminds me of the time I first got my '82 home. My first 'rocco
was an '80 that was totally rusted out, and shot in every way. Now, this
is a 16 year old with his first taste at a fast car.
So, what does this enthusiastic 16 year old do? He tears out of his
driveway in an unregistered car that he just got home. He goes a few
blocks down to his high school, and tears down the entrance road at
about 65, and flies into the main student parking lot, and takes a sharp
turn, and yanks the parking brake as hard as he can possibly pull.
The maroon '82 Scirocco gracefully 180's and comes to a stop in the
parking lot about 50 feet from this girl who's about to become his
girlfriend.
Then, he goes to make a clean getaway, and attempts to release the
parking brake, but it is very stuck.
He drives home 1/4 mile with one rear tire completely locked up creating
a permanent black mark on the road, and a nice trail of white smoke
behind him.
He arrives home, and immedeatley changes the dead tire.
BTW- You can all check out my old and decrepid Scirocco page with a
picture of me using the old "hand brake" trick in my old green '80 at:

Thank you for your time.
